Dear Tzedek Community,
We’re writing to share the bittersweet news that Heather Laine Talley will be moving on from Tzedek at the end of this year. To borrow the words of our grantee partner Carolina Jews for Justice – West, Heather is not leaving but “graduating” to a new relationship with Tzedek where she will provide thought partnership and communications support in a consultant capacity instead of a staff role.
Heather has been pivotal in building Tzedek’s current mission, vision and strategy. She began her work with our fund as director of our former flagship program, the Tzedek Fellowship. In that role, she crafted curricula, developed deep relationships with partner organizations and operationalized movement values of relationship, transparency and rigor within the program. As Co-Director of Tzedek, Heather ensured that we walked our talk in regards to dismantling white supremacy within our organization and grantmaking practices. It’s hard to summarize how transformational Heather’s leadership has been since her unique brand of fierce compassion and radical hospitality is woven into every bit of who we are as an organization.
Please join us in celebrating Heather’s five years of brilliant leadership at Tzedek by sending her a note of appreciation, cute meme, or heartfelt message at heather@tzedeksocialjusticefund.org between now and December 31.
We’re sad to lose Heather in a staff role but are excited to see how she’ll continue to impact the world in this new phase of her work! We know that she is Team Tzedek for life!
With gratitude,
Marsha, Jennifer, Libby, Lindsay and Amy
