After careful consideration, we at Tzedek have decided to take a year off from our usual programming once the current, very talented cohort of Fellows completes its fellowship year on June 30, 2018. As Mandy Carter likes to frame it, “we are taking a pause for the cause.”
The Tzedek Fellowship is in its sixth year and the program has evolved considerably. We feel a pause is necessary for us to build a more nimble and responsive program, build more transparent systems, and deeply embody and internalize our values. Taking this pause to assess, evaluate, and do internal work as an organization on structural racism, class, disability, language justice and more will help us provide an even better program going forward.
We love serving emerging leaders and the Asheville community by partnering with individuals, grassroots movements, and social justice oriented nonprofits. Over the coming months, we will have deeper conversations with local leaders and activists, grassroots groups, and social justice nonprofits to develop a more accurate and current sense of the needs that exist both in our community and in the local and regional social justice movement.
Until then, please reach out if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Amy Mandel
