Dear Friends,
At Tzedek Social Justice Fund, our commitment to creating a thriving Asheville is unwavering and evolving. As we move into 2024, we’re reimagining what it means and looks like to lean more deeply into our core values and practices as we continue funding racial justice, LGBTQ justice, and dismantling antisemitism. Our role as a funder practicing trust-based philanthropy is a privilege we don’t take lightly.
What’s on our hearts right now? We recognize the challenges faced in social change work are as diverse as our communities. While it’s often essential to focus on a specific community or service area, the spirit of inclusivity and solidarity should unite us. And still, division persists.
What does this mean for Tzedek? It means being willing to take risks and talk about real issues. It means innovation. It means integrity. It means being more intentional about our place-based grantmaking.
We believe in collective liberation and the power of ongoing learning and wide-reaching community engagement across and within all focal areas. We embrace humility and stand rooted in our shared humanity in seeking a liberated future for all.
What does this mean for you? As we journey through 2024, we invite you to join us in this collaborative values-alignment process. We value your input and believe we can chart the best path forward together. We understand that this message might raise questions and promise there will be many opportunities to share your insights, concerns, ideas, and joy!
Stay tuned for more updates and avenues to connect with us in the new year. Until then, wishing you peace, love, and laughter.
In solidarity and with gratitude,
Tzedek Social Justice Fund
